Magloire joins Tracy McGrady, Peja Stojakovic and Jermaine O'Neal to help charity

Jamaal Magloire Scores "Hoops To Help"

Los Angeles - SFX Basketball Group announced that All-Star Jamaal Magloire will donate $1,000 for every point he scores during the 2004 NBA All-Star Game to an organization of his choice. Magloire will donate to New Orleans' Children's Hospital. Sacramento Kings' All-Star Forward Peja Stojakovic joined Magloire in the charitable cause and will send his funds to Peja Stojakovic Children's Foundation, which benefits children in his NBA homecity of Sacramento, as well as his hometown of Belgrade.

Last week, Tracy McGrady of the Orlando Magic, and Jermaine O'Neal of the Indiana Pacers, announced they would donate $1,000 for every point they score to charity. McGrady's funds will go to Florida Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida and O'Neal's funds will go to the Housing Authority in Indianapolis and Columbia, South Carolina. The NBA All-Star game will be played on February 15, 2004 in Los Angeles.

"When Peja and Jamaal heard what Tracy McGrady and Jermaine O'Neal were up to, they immediately wanted get involved," said Arn Tellem, President and CEO of SFX Baseball and Basketball. "With all of the excitement surrounding All-Star weekend, particularly for a first-year All-Star like Jamaal Magloire, it is special to see players continue to impact their communities."

Jamaal Magloire, in just his 3rd NBA season, will be making his first All-Star appearance. He is averaging 11.7 points, 9.4 rebounds (12th in the NBA) and 1.23 blocks in 48 games this season. He has a team-leading 20 double-doubles on the year (tied for 15th in the NBA), has led the team in rebounding 25 times, in scoring four times and has five 20/10 games. Magloire visited the Children's Hospital on January 16 and saw first-hand how important the organization's work is for the children of Louisiana. He is also active in the Hornets "Read to Achieve" program and donates 20 tickets to every Hornets game to a non-profit organization.

"I am really looking forward to the All-Star game and playing alongside the best basketball players in the world," said Magloire. "I am very proud to be representing the city of New Orleans and hope I can return home with a significant contribution for Children's Hospital."
